Vietnamese Cubensis cubensis was first found from a specimen collected in Cuba in 1904 as Stropharia cubensis (Earle 1906). At about the same time, Patouillard (1907) collected Naematoloma Caerulescens in Tonkin (Hanoi), North Vietnam.
Psilocybe cubensis is a species of psychedelic mushroom whose principal active compounds are psilocybin and psilocin. Therefore, it belongs to the Hymenogastraceae family of fungi. It is the most well-known psilocybin mushroom due to its wide distribution and ease of cultivation.
